OptumRx was the preferred mail-order pharmacy in conjunction with my retiree's United Healthcare medical insurance.

I want to kick myself for not checking things out earlier. For years they have charged me $90+ for each 90 day supply of a particular medication (Tier I generic).

I checked with them to verify that this $90+ pricing was correct. I then checked with Costco and they quoted a "no insurance" "no discount" pricing of $37 for this same medication. I'm now coming off this particular retiree's plan, and the pricing with my new insurance carrier is $7.50 for a 90 day supply.

Over the years OptumRx has ripped me off for hundreds of dollars on this one medication alone.

It would behoove you to check around on medication pricing with others rather than making assumptions like I did. Paying high dollar insurance premiums is no guarantee that the insurer's preferred pharmacy is affording you a fair pricing on their medications.

Product or Service Mentioned: Optumrx Prescription Refill.

Reason of review: Pricing issue.
